JE vaccination drive in 4 districts of Odisha from December

The Odisha state government has planned to start mass vaccination in Japanese Encephalitis (JE) affected districts of Malkangiri, Jaipur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj from first week of December. After going through preparedness for the vaccination campaign presented by State Immunization Officer, Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department stated that children of 1 to 15 years will be vaccinated during the campaign. A house to house survey has also been planned for actual head count so that the action plan for vaccination in the four districts can be developed accordingly.

An estimated 26 lakh children will be targeted in two phases in the four districts. In the first phase, the state has received 10 lakh vaccines. Malkangiri has been the worst hit district with 93 deaths including 32 in JE.
